Long before Kukoo Kunuku ever rolled through Aruba, high in the mountains of Colombia, brightly painted wooden buses were the heartbeat of entire communities.
They were handcrafted by local artisans and built to carry everything from farmers, children, musicians, and market goods along winding roads. Inside, passengers sat on long wooden benches facing one another, turning every journey into a shared, social experience.
When modern transportation replaced them, these buses were reborn in Medellín as the famous “chiva rumbera” ; a celebration on wheels filled with music, lights, dancing, and laughter. The ride itself became the reason to go out.
